This wine is a rare treat! One of the most sought after Chateauneuf du Pape indeed. Made with Grenache grapes planted in 1889 over extremely rocky soils. This wine is only made in exceptional years too to add to its special status. Lucien and Andre Brunel are some of the most respected wine makers in the Rhona appellation and one sip of this magnificent wine will take you right up to wine nirvana without a doubt. The Grenache was aged in oval barrels and the Mourvedre, Syrah aged in small aged barriques. The nose is rich with old plums, figs and sharp black current accents with a bit of garrigue spiciness. On the palate it is very fleshy and incredibly soft with a youthful freshness and full body presence. Tons of velvety cherry and fig aromas just sit on the tongue for ever. What an incredible wine, so elegant and powerful at the same time.
