IWC 91 WS 90 WA 90 WE 90 Pts - According to Robert Parker - The 2010 Volver (100% Tempranillo) is a single vineyard, outstanding effort that was aged in French oak for 14 months prior to being bottled unfiltered. Its deep ruby/purple color is followed by copious aromas of black currants, black cherries, pepper, underbrush and licorice. This well-made, medium to full-bodied effort should drink well for 4-5 years.
According to International Wine Cellar - Glass-staining ruby. Explosive, seductively perfumed aromas of candied red and dark berries, incense, rose pastille and Asian spices. Sappy, penetrating black raspberry and blueberry flavors show excellent depth and clarity, with smoky mineral and star anise nuances gaining strength with air. Closes sweet and very long, with lingering spiciness and gentle tannins.
According to Wine Spectator - This bold red delivers plenty of espresso, black pepper and toasty oak flavors that frame a core of rich plum, boysenberry and sassafras. Features well-integrated tannins and enough acidity for liveliness. Drink now through 2018.
Volver's Tempranillo is a staple for us, a great go to wine because of its bright fruit character and structure. Aromas of blackberries, violets, incense, and vanilla. On the palate the wine is pleasant and round with a lingering finish. Rated 90+
