WE 95pts. - #25 out of Wine Enthusiasts top #100 - According to the Wine Enthusiast: Just gorgeous. Floods the mouth with decadent black currant, cherry, chocolate, anise, beef jerky and smoky oak flavors that stun for their addictive deliciousness. Yet it's perfectly dry, and the balance of rich, ripe tannins, acidity and smoky oak is near perfect. The wine is a blend of Bordeaux varieties and Syrah, from esteemed vineyards including Hyde, Stagecoach and Caldwell. - Winemaker Notes - The Buoncristiani O.P.C. is our Napa Valley proprietary red blend. In the quest to create a wine uniquely ours, we discovered the synergy of marrying Napa Cabernet Sauvignon with Syrah, while also folding in further complexity of texture and flavor with Napa Malbec and Merlot blenders. Grapes are sourced from some of Napa’s most prestigious vineyards including Hyde, Stagecoach, Caldwell, and Bennett. Just like our winemaking fathers before us, with Ol’ Pa’s Cuvee we four brothers continue the family tradition of handcrafting blends that help accentuate the enjoyment of life.

Yum (that about says it all.)
A good friend recommended this wine to me - I believe she is acquainted with the family and had tried this wine before. If New World wines are your thing, you will adore this little gem, especially for the price. I found velvety lush red fruits on the nose, with bright and tangy raspberries vying for dominance in the mouth with cassis and anise, and lovely notes of herbs and violets. The initial acidity threw me at first, but it melts away beautifully to provide a long, balanced finish. I'd love to see this wine age a bit more, and/or also have it with a nice cut of beef to see how the food pairing tempers the acidity. Although "warm" and "bright" would normally cancel each other out, I can't describe this wine more accurately. And I feel it's really a great value. Well done! (I think I need to get some more...)
