Caduceus 2007 Nagual De La Naga California Red Wine (Maynard James Keenan)

Winemaker Notes - Maynard James Keenan is, for all intents and purposes, a Rock Star. The co-founder of rock music acts TOOL, a perfect circle, and Puscifer now enters into a new realm where he is an unknown … winemaker. Keenan has shown remarkable passion and commitment with regards to not just putting Arizona vines on the map but truly discovering and utilizing all the potential for growth in this relatively untapped appellation. The Nagual De La Naga is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese and stands toe to toe with the great wines of Bolgheri. This is Caduceus Cellars’ Sangiovese & Cab Sav New World Tuscan meets Old World Brunello blend. The nose hints at Dried Bing Cherries, deep Fig, Bumble Berry Pie, Candied Burnt Orange Peel. On the palate, the wine is bold with medium tannins, bright acids, and very layered, very balanced flavors - Sugar Babies, prunes and figs, pie crust, and dried fruits. The Sangiovese gives the great acid on the attack, and the Cabernet gives the mid palate a cedar woody sensation. Finishes with lingering flavors of dried fruits and nuts.
