Mar 08, 2011- When the folks at Duckhorn approached us with their new, extended Decoy line to retail around $25, we were stoked. Value-oriented Merlot from the outstanding 2007 vintage made by Duckhorn? Yes Please. Like all the grapes used to make wines in the Duckhorn Wine Company portfolio, fruit for the Decoy program comes from a mix of Estate vineyards and top independent growers. Decisions about which lots are used in Decoy are not made until well into the winemaking process. As a result, Decoy’s grapes receive the same meticulous care in the vineyard, and the same small-lot attention to detail in the winery (including hand-sorting, the use of the finest coopers and French oak, and a commitment to artful blending). Winemaker Notes - This appealing Napa Valley bottling highlights the elegance of the Merlot varietal. Since 1978, Duckhorn Vineyards has been producing Merlot that reflects the rich diversity of the valley’s many appellations and offers signature flavors of black cherry...
