Elyse 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon Tietjen Vineyard Napa Valley

CG 91pts. - According to the Connoisseurs' Guide: Black cherries and cassis abound in this incisively varietal, very carefully crafted offering, and the impressions of complexity and concentration that show in its nose are confirmed by its well-focused, deeply filled flavors. It finishes with a bit of the tannic toughness expected from young Cabernet Sauvignon, but its persistent fruit outdistances everything else and points the way to a very bright future ahead. Winemaker Notes - The 2005 Tietjen Cabernet is deep, dark purple in color with a nose of black cherries, chocolate, cedar, mushrooms, violets and a faint scent of cinnamon. Flavors of blueberries, cassis, dried herbs, vanilla and warm spices lead to a wonderful glycerin like texture that carries the tannin nicely across the palate. This full-bodied wine has great structure with beautiful integration of fruit, oak and tannin followed by a complex and lengthy finish. This Cabernet will pair wonderfully with lamb, venison, beef and rich cheeses. Decanting this wine is always beneficial. It will age well for 8 to 12 years.
