WA 89 Pts - According to Wine Advocate - The 2008 Aglianico Rubrato is a beautiful wine and a terrific value as well. Ripe dark fruit, smoke, ash, earthiness and subtle notes of gaminess emerge from this mid-weight red. The tannins are just a touch firm, making the Rubrato a red that is best with food rather than on its own, but that is a relatively small critique for a wine at this price point. The Rubrato is a great introduction to Aglianico. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2014.
According to Wine Spectator - Ripe and fruity, with floral and spice notes framing the dark wild berry fruit. Firm tannins assert themselves on the iron-tinged finish. Drink now. 30,000 cases made.
According to Wine Enthusiast - Rubrato is a clean and polished expression of Aglianico (stored in stainless steel instead of oak in order to preserve the freshness of the fruit) that would work with meatloaf or juicy cheeseburgers. It shows a smooth but firm quality in the mouth.
