Importer Notes - The Fendant Les Murettes has been the benchmark for this ancient Valaisan variety since 1920. Slender, elegant, crisp - this is a wine for all occasions, whose fruitiness and mineral character know how to flatter the palate. Not by chance do the people of the Valais prefer to drink the Fendant les Murettes as an apertif or at receptions of all kinds. It is the verry essence of Valaisan sunshine and the Valaisan way of life - subtle and balanced.

Les Murettes is Le Magnifique!
So the Swiss don't just make delicious chocolates apparently. This wine has everything I look for in a white. A bright nose with floral aromatics, a full (slightly fatty) mouth feel with great fruit and awesome minerality and acidity on the finish. Delicious! ... Also I am aware that my title uses a french word when the wine is actually swiss .... and that was about how much I care.

A rare wine with a sense of place
Fendants are the best known Swiss whites and those coming from Sion are believed to be the best ones! That is,according to the Swiss who have adopted this wine as their aperitif of choice. It is made with the Chasselas grape, a varietal believed to have originated near the Leman Lake, north east of Sion. Gilliard's Fendant offers plenty of floral notes and some fat on the palate. Round and soft at first, with aromas of citrus and almonds. The mouth feel soon evolves into mineral notes and acidity. Perfect complement to any lake or river fishes and to dishes with a white sauces. It will superbly pair with a cheese fondue or a Raclette naturally.
