WA 93pts. - According to the Wine Advocate: Harlan’s second wine, The Maiden, is marvelous in 2005. Ripe, opulent fruit and notes of unsmoked high class cigar tobacco intermixed with creme de cassis, coffee, and asphalt are present in this round, superbly textured, rich, full-bodied, silky, beautifully wrought wine. It will drink well for 15+ years. Winemaker Notes - Harlan Estate, owned by Bill Harlan, is located in the western hills of Oakville. Harlan is known for its commitment to creating a California ‘First Growth’, akin to the finest Old World Estates. At 240 acres, including a homestead and plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, Harlan’s wines are extremely limited, due to small production and high demand. With winemaker Bob Levy and consulting oenologist Michel Rolland, these wines have been received to great acclaim by reviewers and collectors alike.
