Jan 25, 2013- The appellation was initially applied only to the village and surrounding area of Crozes-Hermitage, on account of the notoriety won by several parcels of vineyards selected as Hermitage A.O.C. (Controlled Appellation). It is now a well known wine.

Description

According to Wine Spectator - Open-knit, with a tangy streak running through the loganberry and blackberry notes, backed by a lightly dusty, slightly crisp finish. Drink now. 35,000 cases made.

According to Wine Enthusiast - Punchy and light by regional standards, with cherry, raspberry and some citrus to the nose. The palate is medium weight at best, with crunchy, crisp tannins backing red-fruit flavors. A little earthy as well, and simple to drink if you don't mind a wine with crispness.

Tasting Notes - Deep purple red. Red fruits, blackcurrant and raspberry. Fresh and round tasting with a finish of stewed fruits all in finess.

Vintage: 2008

Great affordable Croze Hermitage. Tons of pepper on the palate. Makes me want to grill up a top sirloin steak.

A Spicy Croze-Hermitage
2008 was a cool vintage in the Rhone appellation and we can expect the northern Rhone wines to be peppery. This Croze Hermitage by Chapoutier is right in line with a very peppery nose and a hint of orange zest. The palate is medium weight and aromas of bitter cherry and notes of flint stones. For any true Syrah lover, here is your chance to experience a pure Northern Rhone, cool climate expression of the varietal.
