Shawn Johnson is one of Napa'a rising stars, working directly with Mark Herold of Merus, Kobalt, and Buccella fame. For his 2009 Maze Cabernet, Shawn sourced fruit from Stagecoach, Oakville Ranch, and Kenefick among others to create a layered and complex wine that is expressive, very well-balanced, and youthful that will still age very well in the cellar. Full bodied, rich and mouthcoating, this is packed with blackcurrant, black plum fruit, cocoa, vanilla, espresso bean, and nicely integrated French oak.
