NapaCabs Saturday Tasting April 28th, 2012 Meritage Varietals $16 Per Flight Columbia Crest 2009 Merlot H3 Horse Heaven Hills $9.95 Per Bottle The H3 Merlot opens with aromas of raspberries, black pepper and earthy tones which lead to flavors of chocolate covered cherries and plum preserves on the silky smooth palate. The flavors and aromas cumulate in to an intense – yet elegant – finish. Atalon 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley $23.95 Per Bottle “The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon opens with gorgeous, perfumed aromatics. Sweet red berries, flowers, licorice and spices flow effortlessly from this beautifully delineated wine. Bright, floral notes add lift on the finish.” Wine Advocate 90 Points Cruz Andina 2009 Malbec Lujan De Cuyo $14 Per Bottle “A full-force Malbec with classy black fruit, rubber, cassis and balsamic aromas. The palate sports a nice mouthfeel, fine balance and tasty flavors of herbs, blackberry, roasted plum and chocolate. Elegant but strong, with layering.” Wine Enthusiast 90 Points Vinum Cellars 2008 Cabernet Franc The Scrapper El Dorado County $25.95 This is a wine made for the open-minded, the adventurous and those who root for the underdog. It's Cabernet Franc from El Dorado, California aged in used French Oak for 22 months; truly a Scrapper. Chateau Guibot 2009 Puisseguin Saint-Emilion La Fouvieille $19.95 Per Bottle A real sleeper of the vintage, this property, which has made a number of good wines over the least decade, has hit a real high point with this offering from a relatively obscure satellite of St.-Emilion. Loads of kirsch, black currant and raspberry notes intermixed with loamy soil, roasted herbs and subtle burning embers jump from the glass of this ripe, medium to full-bodied, deliciously fruity, sexy style of wine. Bridesmaid 2007 Napa Valley Red Wine $34.95 Per Bottle “Restaurants/bistros and consumers looking for a sumptuous, ready-to-drink California red should definitely check out the 2007 Bridesmaid. Coming from a top vintage it’s not surprising that this wine has a dense ruby/purple color, a big, sweet kiss of charcoal, toast, and black currants, sweet, jammy cherries, and a hint of wood spice in a medium to full-bodied, luscious, hedonistic, fruit bomb style. This is delicious wine, and reasonably priced for as good as it is.” Wine Advocate 92 Points
