Petite Sirah (Peh-teet See-rah) despite its name tends to be a big wine with a dark inky appearance and high tannins. Petite Sirah is believed to be the same as a lesser-known Rhone grape called Durif. Petite Sirah, which can also be spelled as, Petite Syrah or Petit Sirah, is commonly used in blending but has found a following domestically as an individual variety. This grape is often described as having lush fruit, hints of pepper, and an herbaceous quality, which may temper if aged, which this grape is more than qualified to do.
