Sep 01, 2010- WS 92pts. - WE 91pts. - According to the Wine Spectator: A velvety red, offering a supple mouthful of lovely cherry, currant, floral and mineral character, retaining its integrity of flavor and tannins through the long, vivid finish. This leads to a layered, ripe, savory wine with good depth and concentration, incipient complexity, and excellent length. It can be enjoyed through 2017. Winemaker Notes - 50% new French oak with the remaining half older French oak. Select barrels from the best forests of Taransaud, Demptos, Vicard, Radoux and Roberts & Son coopers. Crushed gently and dropped by gravity into 1.5 ton bins, cold soaked 72 hours, then inoculated with a variety of yeasts, hand punched and pressed directly to barrel where the wine finished both primary and secondary fermentations. Glorius vintage with wonderful weather conditions for normal production of low tonnages equaling delicious, balanced and succulent fruit. Elegant with spiced cherry, blackberry and boysenberry mingling pleasingly and lingering seductively with a hint of oak, smooth chocolate and mocha on the structured tannins and fine-grained finish.
