Zinfandel (Zin-fahn-DELL), also known as Primitivo, is predominantly found in California and Italy. The grape’s vines are extremely vigorous and resistant to disease, and as a result can be found in vineyards that can be over 100 years old. The Characteristics of the grape are rich, even “jammy”, berry flavors consisting of raspberry, blackberry, cranberry, boysenberry, and cherry, also with hints of cinnamon and spice. This grape is not known for it’s ageing potential, and would definitely fall under the category of drink now wines. A great barbecue wine.
