The Alamos philosophy is to produce flavorful, drinkable wines, each varietal with their own aroma, flavor and texture. Moderate oak aging enhances additional complexity, with the result being wines that are as good as other wines twice their price.

WA 90 WE 90 Pts - According to Wine Advocate - The 2012 Alamos Seleccion Malbec is sourced from San Carlos in the Uco Valley, a cooler quarter where the alcohol is restrained to 13.5% and the freshness is high. It reminds me a bit of the High Note Malbec, a joint venture between the Catena family and American importer Winebow, where they use high altitude vineyards to keep the freshness. This is very dark, with ripe dark fruit, abundant spicy notes, cinnamon and vanilla. The palate is medium-bodied, with a touch of elegant rusticity, with plenty of fine-grained tannins. It develops a violet note with time in glass. Drink 2014-2018.

According to Wine Enthusiast - Selección is proving itself to be a consistent modern Malbec (the last four vintages have rated 89 or 90 points). This rendition shows graphite, inky berry notes and savory spice aromas such as cumin and cardamom. It’s rich and full bodied, with tobacco, coconut and baked plum and berry flavors. A smooth finish is neither tannic nor overpowering. Rated 90+
