Vinous 91 WA 90 Pts - According to Antonio Galloni - The just bottled 2013 Esperance, Murray's GSM blend, boasts gorgeous textural depth and nuance. The flavors are expressive and nicely layered throughout, with pretty notes of sweet tobacco, mint, crushed flowers and anise that add nuance on the finish. There is so much to like here. This is the first vintage of Esperance that is 100% estate fruit.
According to Wine Advocate - A terrific GSM blend that shows the quality that's coming out of this estate today, the 2013 Esperance is 60% Grenache, 25% Syrah and 15% Mourvedre that was raised almost exclusively in neutral oak. Impeccably made, it offers notes of black raspberry, exotic Pepper, violets and crushed flowers to go with a medium to full-bodied, fruit forward, yet classy and always pure and balanced feel on the palate. This comes from a new vineyard in 2013, represents a terrific value and should drink nicely for 5-6 years, if not longer.
Winemakers Notes - "A rich, concentrated wine with aromas and flavors of ultra-ripe strawberries, black cherries, and blueberries, mixed in with the spiciness of cinnamon and vanilla from the toasty new French Oak." 14% ABV.
