AG 93 WE 92 WA 90 Pts - According to Antonio Galloni - "The 2010 Pinot Noir Knox Alexander is another full-bodied, juicy wine. Here the fruit expression is quite direct and bold, I don't quite find the subtlety of the best wines here, but the Knox Alexander is still very pretty. It is perhaps just a little less subtle and nuanced than the Isabelle."
According to Wine Enthusiast - "This low production Pinot Noir will be scooped up by sommeliers who understand how good it is with so many of their entrées. The alcohol is modest, and the oak is in the background despite being comprised of 75% new French barrels. That’s because the raspberry, cola and tea flavors are so strong, they’re able to stand for themselves. The grape source is from Jim Clendenen’s personal Le Bon Climat Vineyard and Bien Nacido. All in all, this is a gorgeous Pinot that will continue to impress over the next six years."
According to Wine Advocate - "A small step down, yet still outstanding, the 2010 Pinot Noir Knox Alexander has lively crushed berries, wild flowers, forest floor, toasted spice and hints of green herbs to go with a medium-bodied, pure and elegantly proportioned mouthfeel. Balanced, with a great mid-palate and fine tannin, it needs another year or two to come together and will drink nicely for upwards of a decade. Drink 2014-2020."
Winemakers Notes - "Lush, velvety, creamy, bursting with berries, fragrant flowers, and soft wafts of vanilla, the 2001 Knox is a wine for hedonists. Made from 50% Dijon clones and 50% traditional California selections planted by Jim Clendenen at the higher elevations of Bien Nacido Vineyard, this wine seems to grow in stature with every vintage- much like Jim's own son, Knox, who lends the wine his name." 13.5% ABV.
