C. Frederic "Fred" Brander, owner and winemaker, was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The first Sauvignon Blanc grapes were taken to a neighboring winery where Fred Brander produced a wine so distinctive it captured Santa Barbara County's first gold medal for a wine at a major wine competition (1978 Los Angeles County Fair).

According to Wine Spectator - The grass and lemongrass notes, set on a light frame, lend an aromatic edge to the lemon-lime and melon flavors, finishing crisp. Drink now. 8,000 cases made.

Winemakers Notes - The Santa Ynez Valley Sauvignon Blanc is a blend of fruit from our estate, as well as a few other select vineyards in the Los Olivos area. This 2012 bottling- the 36th vintage of this blend for The Brander Vineyard- is a beautiful expression of pure Sauvignon Blanc fruit. With notes of honeysuckle, jasmine, and kiwi fruit pairing with bright and crisp acidity, this superb value finishes with flavors of beeswax, mint, and Key limes. Outstanding with shellfish, Indian curries, and warm spring afternoons!
