Vinous 92 pts "Casanova di Neri's 2011 Brunello di Montalcino is a very pretty and expressive wine. Sweet red cherry, menthol, rose petal and mint open up first, followed by a touch of blood orange that adds lovely aromatic lift and brightness throughout. Although not especially complex, the 2011 should drink beautifully for at least a handful of years. Today, it is quite pretty and expressive."

The Wine Advocate 92pts  - "Giacomo Neri has produced a very approachable wine in this warm vintage. The 2011 Brunello di Montalcino is plump and juicy with loads of dark fruit and mild spice at the back. It doesn't have the depth or complexity of the gorgeous 2010 vintage, but the wine does a very good job presenting the main traits you look for in Brunello. The fruit is lively and the acidity gives the wine a sense of buoyancy and brightness. The tannins are very well integrated. It doesn't reach Brunello greatness, but it is a good Brunello. "

100% Sangiovese (also known as 'Brunello' in its native region)This wine is sourced from vineyards located on the southern slope of Montalcino - “Pietradonice” and “Le Cetine” - and from one of the estate's massal selections of Sangiovese. Fermentation and maceration lasts 23 days. The wine is then aged in neutral oak barrels for 42 months followed by 6 months aging in bottle. Casanova di Neri was established in 1971 when Giovanni Neri acquired a large estate within Montalcino. Since then his primary goal has been to find land optimal for growing high quality grapes. In 1991, his son Giacomo took over direction of the estate and winemaking. His 138 acres are divided into four distinct areas: Pietradonice in Castelnuovo dell’Abate, Cetine in Sant’Angelo in Colle, Cerretalto and Fiesole. As the grapes have improved in quality, more care and attention has been given to the winemaking process - from vinification to the careful selection and use of casks - but always with the maximum respect for tradition. The winery’s Brunello production is divided between three different labels in order to best represent each area’s unique characteristics.
