Intense, deep red with hints of violet. Powerful, complex, rich, extremely elegant, refined, very deep. Various notes of red fruit. Concentrated, pure nose, with a smokiness and a minerality that is typical of this wine.

WE 94 WS 92 JS 92 WA (91-93) IWC (89-91) Pts - According to Wine Enthusiast - Big, ripe and juicy, this wears its rich black fruits right up front. A strong and firmly tannic structure serves as a background to the fruit. The wine is rich, complex and full of potential. Spice, ginger and nutmeg come through at the end along with the fruit. Drink from 2022.

According to Wine Spectator - Solid, with dense layers of fig sauce, plum cake and blackberry confiture, laced with graphite and warm tar details. The long finish ripples with spice hints and black fruit, leaving a mouthwatering feel despite the heft. Best from 2017 through 2022.

According to James Suckling - This shows lots of precision and focus with blueberry, mineral and dried fruit character. Full body, fine tannins and a silky finish. Refined and composed. Better in 2019.

According to Robert Parker - This Belgian-owned estate has been making brilliant white and red Graves. Another beauty in a more difficult vintage than either 2009 or 2010, the 2012 Malartic Lagraviere is further evidence of how successful this vintage was in Pessac-Leognan. It possesses a dense purple color as well as a sumptuous perfume of creme de cassis, licorice, bay leaf, lead pencil shavings and barbecue smoke. Medium to full-bodied and richly fruity with soft tannin, surprising length and an impressive mid-palate (a rarity in 2012), it should drink well for 15 years.

According to International Wine Cellar - Good ruby-red. Blueberry, mocha and flowers on the nose. Sweet, pliant and nicely balanced, with good juicy lift to the dark fruit and mineral flavors. The finish is long and brightly mineral. Hints at a savory ripeness on the back half that many Left Bank wines lack in 2012. Cabernet-Sauvignon 50 %, Merlot 45 %, Cabernet-Franc 3%, Petit-Verdot 2%. 13.5% ABV.
