WE 91 WA 91 Pts - According to Wine Enthusiast - Production of this single-vineyard Cabernet tripled in 2011, perhaps a nod to the quality that this hot site brings to the grapes in a very cool vintage. Great focus is evident in the deeply flavored cassis fruit. It’s accented by barrel spice, earth, cedar and espresso, well-integrated and showing the structure for which the vineyard is known. Editor's Choice!
According to Wine Advocate - Even better, the 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Cold Creek Vineyard is impressive, with classic dark fruits, graphite, lead pencil shavings, licorice and herb-like aromas and flavors. Medium to full-bodied, beautifully textured, balanced and with fine tannin, it’s an excellent bottle of wine that will have upwards of a decade’s of longevity.
According to Stephen Tanzer - Good dark red. Reduced aromas of licorice and clove spice. Supple and creamy in the mouth; denser than the Indian Wells example but still quite dominated by its oak element, showing more mocha and clove than primary fruits today. With its easygoing texture and soft tannins, this seems ready to drink.
According to Wine Spectator - Polished, relatively light and appealing, with smoky dark berry and dried herb flavors, gliding smoothly into a gentle finish. Drink now.
Winemakers Notes - Cabernet from this iconic 40-year-old vineyard consistently delivers power, structure and rich concentrated black fruit. The wine offers black cherry, chocolate notes with typical Cold Creek weight and user friendly power. 97% Cold Creek Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cold Creek Merlot. 14.5% ABV.
