WE 89 Pts - According to Wine Enthusiast - 2011 was an excellent year for this affordable Merlot, with small amounts of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Petit Verdot and Syrah included in the final blend. It seems to tilt more toward Bordeaux and away from California in style, bringing well-integrated hints of herb, tobacco and earth along with a core of black currant fruit. Best Buy!
According to Wine Spectator - Fresh and appealing, with deft balance to the berry and loamy earth flavors, finishing smoothly. Drink now through 2015.
Winemaker Notes - We craft this wine to be our complex yet approachable Merlot. The wine offers aromas of black cherry, leather and spice with layers of rich dark red fruit flavors and a long, smooth, sweet finish. A touch of Syrah adds a jammy fruit character. I think of this wine as a great “everyday red”. 94% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Syrah, 1% Malbec, 1% Petit Verdot. 13.5% ABV.
