W&S 93 WA 92 JS 92 WS 90 Pts - According to Wine Advocate - The 2011 EQ Syrah is from a flat vineyard with deep, granite-based soils worked biodynamically since 2004 in search of a classical spicy Syrah, serious and closed, harvested quite late, destemmed (but some stems are added back to the vat) and fermented with indigenous yeasts. The result is very dark and restrained, a classically proportioned Syrah with notes of black pepper, blueberries and violets, subtle smoke, and a juicy, textured palate with glossy tannins and an earthy, mineral-driven finish. Drink now-2018.
According to James Suckling - Plenty of subtle black pepper, grilled meat and dark fruits follow through to a full body with fine tannins and a fresh finish. Refined and beautiful. Drink now.
According to Wine Spectator - Powerful, with a smoky aroma and concentrated flavors of roasted plum, mocha and cherry tart with hints of pomegranate. There's enticing edge of mineral and slate, with a peppery finish. Drink now through 2018. 14% ABV.
