WE 95 WA 91 JS 90 Pts - According to Wine Enthusiast - "One for the cellar. Shows a dramatic structure of firm, dusty tannins, brightened with acidity, framing complex, long and deep flavors of black currants, cassis, dark unsweetened chocolate, smoky cedar, anise and spices, undergirded by a firm minerality. Best after 2010 and through 2014, at least."
According to Robert Parker - "The 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is a backward, dense purple-hued effort displaying plenty of licorice, black currant, smoke, and charcoal characteristics, along with full-bodied power, a layered, opulent mouthfeel, and moderate tannin in its youthful finish. It is capable of lasting 20 or more years."
According to James Suckling - "Lots of spicy wood and ripe fruit, with hints of fresh mushrooms on the nose that turns to licorice and blueberries. Full bodied with velvety tannins, but slightly short on the finish. Should fill in with some bottle age. Pull the cork in 2014."
According to Wine Spectator - "Sleek and complex, full-bodied and Bordeaux-like, with an earthy mineral edge to the dried berry and currant flavors that are subdued and tightly wound, ending with earthy tannins. Needs time. Best from 2011 through 2017."
Tasting Notes - "The Far Niente Cabernet Sauvignon has aromas of very dark fruit, black currant, dark chocolate, dust/earth, vanillan and perfume are layered behind the ripeness. The wine provides a big and full entry, yet the tannins are balanced and have an underlying silkiness. On the palate, ripe cassis and spice mingle with well-integrated oak and evolve into a lingering, fruit-driven finish." 14.5% ABV.
