According to Robert Parker - The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Vintner’s Reserve (260,410 cases) is surprisingly European in style for a K-J wine. Nearly all Cabernet Sauvignon with just tiny dollops of Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Merlot and Malbec, it comes from Sonoma (88%) and Mendocino with a little bit from the Central Coast and Napa. Aged eight months in French and American oak, it offers up hints of licorice, bouquet garni, roasted herbs, and red and black currants, and medium-bodied, pretty, soft fruit. This wine could easily pass for a very good cru bourgeois from Bordeaux. Enjoy it over the next 2-3 years.
According to Antonio Galloni - The 2011 Cabernet Sauvignon Vintner's Reserve is one of the best values in this range from Kendall-Jackson. Graphite, spices, blue/blackish fruit, savory herbs and earthy notes meld together in a wine that impresses for its layered personality. Sonoma County is a great source for value-priced Cabernet Sauvignons. The Vintner's Reserve is a great example of what can be achieved in this part of northern California.
According to Wine Enthusiast - K-J’s basic Cab has gotten pricier over the years, but quality has kept up. This wine still offers excellent value. It’s elegant in construction, with tailored tannins and acids and fine flavors of blackberries and currants that lead to a spicy finish.
According to Wine Spectator - Ripe and rustic, this is chewy and agreeable in a pleasant, straightforward style, with a tannic edge to the dried berry fruit. Drink now through 2018.
Tasting Notes - Aromas of lush black cherry, blackberry and cassis draw you in. Round and rich tannins pr ovide a robust backbone and supple mid-palate. Notes of cedar, vanilla and a hint of mocha linger on the finish. 5% Cabernet Franc, 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Petit Verdot, 3% Merlot, 1% Malbec. 13.5% ABV.
