93 Points Robert Parker - "The largest production cuvée for Kistler is the 2014 Chardonnay Les Noisetiers, of which they make 10,000 cases. It is an outstanding effort with a note of roasted hazelnuts (hence the name) loads of sexy citrus oil, honeysuckle and a touch of tropical fruit. It is meant to be drunk in its first 2-3 years of life."

"The single-vineyard wines all represent much smaller quantities of wine. There have been several noticeable changes in the Kistler wines over the last few years, as they are certainly picking the Pinot Noir at an earlier date and going for less extraction, more fragrance and delicacy. The Chardonnays are still powerful wines but they have backed off the new oak to about 40%. (About 10 years ago, it was around 60%.) Other than that they are still potent and rich Chardonnays that are meant to be drunk in their first 4-6 years of life. It is my experience that aging Kistler wine has not been generally as successful as I would have hoped." - Robert Parker

The northern and western most of our Chardonnay plantings lie in our Sonoma Coast vineyards. Metered by the persistent influence of the Pacific, these sites all owe their soils to the sands derived from ancient ocean bed layers. This Gold Ridge soil series produces wines driven in part by the soil influenced earth tones that come by way of the noble sulfides produced during fermentation, which are layered over their stone and orchard fruit core. - Kistler Vineyards
