WA 91 IWC 90 AG 90 Pts - According to Robert Parker - The 2012 Chardonnay Los Carneros is treated similarly, but with slightly more new oak (28%) utilized. It offers honeyed, caramelized hazelnut and buttered citrus notes, less tropical fruit characteristics and a more Burgundian, smoky, full-bodied mouthfeel. Drink it over the next 2-3 years.
According to Stephen Tanzer - Vivid gold. High-pitched aromas of underripe orchard fruits, anise, iodine and smoky lees. Offers vibrant pear and Meyer lemon flavors that put on weight with aeration. Distinctly mineral in character, finishing with nervy cut and building smokiness. I like the Old World character of this somewhat un-fruity chardonnay.
According to Antonio Galloni - Apricot, honey, Chamomile and orange blossoms are some of the many notes that jump from the glass in La Crema's Chardonnay Los Carneros. Rich and voluptuous on the palate, the 2012 possesses excellent textural balance, although it could use a little more definition in its bouquet.
According to Wine Enthusiast - This is an expansive, fuller-style of Chardonnay from windswept Carneros. Juicy in apple and Meyer lemon, it’s softly textured, with a pronounced richness in aroma, evocative of earthy oak and petrol. Mouthfilling and creamy, it finishes with a taste of crème caramel.
Winemakers Notes - This excellent vintage brought forth all the juicy character, depth and concentration possible in Los Carneros Chardonnay. On the nose, Meyer lemon takes center stage, complemented by subtle toast, heather and allspice aromas. The generous palate offers broad flavors of yellow apple, custard, tangerine and toffee. Seamless and full–bodied, this opulent release is balanced by fresh acidity and a lingering finish of sweet spice. 14.5% ABV.
