IWC 88 Pts - According to Stephen Tanzer - "(a blend of 65% merlot, 16% syrah, 14% petite sirah and 5% charbono): Red-ruby. Aromas of kirsch, licorice, violet and nutty oak. Nicely concentrated if a bit medicinal; a dark fruit rather than gamey version of syrah. Finishes with substantial tongue-dusting tannins but filled out nicely with some aeration."
Winemakers Notes - "This youthful 2011 Griffin drinks like a Pomerol! Aromas and flavors of red cherry and red currant carried by an elegantly weighted mid-palate and perfect balance. The finish is graced with a touch of mocha and espresso and finishes long with very fine gentle tannins. The 2011 Griffin is a blend of 65% elegant and lush Calistoga Merlot, 16% fruity and approachable Syrah, 14% dark and rich Petite Sirah, and 5% soft and expressive Charbono. Delicioso!" 14.5% ABV.
