Silver Oak's 2010 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of Napa Valley sourced grapes consisting of 84% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc. Silver Oak winemaker Daniel Baron utilizes the procedure to blended first and then aged in Oak; in order to enhance the integration between fruit and tannins without element of oak impacting the flavor and aroma profile achieved. Thereafter, the wine in aged for 2 years in new American Oak barrels and an additional 20 months in bottles to complete the process and achieve another Napa Valley classic Cabernet.
Winemaker's Notes - "The 2010 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is a seamless wine that expresses bright, fresh fruit characters from an unusually cool California vintage. It has a vibrant, ruby color and a complex nose of boysenberries, blueberries, sage, licorice and roasted chicory. It has a luscious mouthfeel with notes of fresh fruit and carnation flowers on the palate. It has fine-grained tannins and a velvety texture that leads to a long, fruit-filled finish. Given proper cellaring, this wine should give drinking pleasure through 2031."
"Shows a good touch of bottle age and a notably oaky presence, marked by dill, vanilla bean and coconut notes wrapped around a rich, authoritative, full-bodied core of loamy earth, dark berry, licorice and espresso. Drink now through 2028." Wine Spectator - 92 Points WS 92 Pts
“It's easy to see why Silver Oak remains so popular with the restaurant crowd. It's made in a more restrained style than many other Napa Cabs. There’s plenty of berry and currant fruit as well as oak, but it’s accompanied by tobacco and herbs that give the wine an earthiness. What the wine lacks in dazzle it more than makes up for in elegance and subtlety. Should develop well for at least a decade.” Steve Heimoff – Wine & Spirits Magazine
