WA 91+ WS 90 WE 90 Pts - According to Wine Advocate - Showing the finesse driven style of the estate, the 2009 Frederick checks in as a blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Cabernet Franc, 7% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot and a splash of Malbec that spent 21 months in 65% new French oak. Slightly lifted on the nose, with plenty of briary berry fruit, violets, new saddle leather and hints of licorice, it flows onto the palate with a voluptuous, yet classy and focused texture that carries sweet, persistent tannin through the finish. In need of another year or so to round into form, it will have a solid 10-12 years of longevity. Drink 2014-2021.

According to Wine Spectator - Focused, with a moderate grip of tannins around a supple core of black olive-accented black cherry flavors, lingering intently on the finish. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec. Drink now through 2016. 2,000 cases made.

According to Wine Enthusiast - The Frederickbottling is 55% Cabernet Sauvignon and 31% Merlot, with other Bordeaux grapes filling in the rest. Chewy and tannic, it seems to have a green edge to its fruit and tannins. Nonetheless, there are plenty of flavors of berry, spice and black pepper, with highlights of coffee and cacao. This has lots to chew on, plus good length.

Tasting Notes - The 2009 Frederick opens with concentrated aromas of blackberry and peppercorn on the nose, leading into a big, rich palate of dark fruits and balanced tannins that will age with style. The finish is a lingering burst of dark chocolate and caramel notes. Rated 90+
