WA (91-93) AG (91-93) Pts - According to Wine Advocate - Starting off the 2013s and the first vintage, the 2013 Syrah Tensley Vineyard comes from the newly planted (4th leaf fruit) vineyard planted around Tensley’s house. Showing notions of smoked beef, leather and licorice to go with a core of plum and currant fruit, this full-bodied, deep and textured effort will drink nicely on release and over the following 5-7 years, possibly longer.
According to Antonio Galloni - The 2013 Syrah Tensley Vineyard is the first wine off of Joey Tensley's estate vineyard in Los Olivos. Intense, pungent aromas and flavors take hold of the senses in a Syrah loaded with complexity and nuance. The tannins are firm, but also nicely balanced. It is going to be fascinating to see how this vineyard and the wines it produces develop in the coming years.
Winemakers Notes - Tensley Vineyard Syrah is dark and intense with highlights of red plums and cherries nicely balanced by a subtle earthiness and firm, grainy tannins. We are very proud of the quality of this vintage and can’t wait to see how the vines and the wine develop in the future. Drink this wine now or age it 7 to 10 years.14.2% ABV. Rated 90+
