WA 90 Pts - According to Robert Parker - The outstanding 2011 Chardonnay Russian River reveals a more interesting perfume of buttered hazelnuts, honeysuckle and caramelized citrus in a style reminiscent of a French Meursault. Medium-bodied with copious fruit, good acidity and a subtle and deft use of oak, it should drink well for 2-4 years.
According to Stephen Tanzer - Bright yellow-gold. Pineapple, nectarine and orange zest on the nose, with notes of honey and sweet butter adding depth. Fleshy, palate-coating tropical and pit fruit flavors are firmed by juicy acidity, with a smoky nuance emerging with aeration. Shows a slightly hard edge on the finish, the orange and smoke notes repeating.
Winemakers Notes - Lovely, bright aromas of lemon curd, tropical fruit and nutmeg combine with opulent flavors of crème brulee, baked apple and roasted marshmallow to create a round, rich wine with a long finish and generous mouthfeel. The Russian River Valley provides optimal ripening conditions for Chardonnay – warm days and cool nights produce complex and concentrated wines that embrace a higher percentage of sweet, spicy new oak. This is a wine which proudly shows the best of the Russian River Valley. 14.5% ABV.
