CG 90 Pts - According to Connoisseur's Guide - There has been a good deal of debate about the potential virtues and pitfalls of the cool and quite challenging 2011 vintage, but this unlikely, unconventional combination of grapes very much speaks to the former. It leads with a mix of bright berries and slightly pungent, peppery spice in the nose and follows with lively flavors that are filled with fresh fruit and long on stamina. While sporting plenty of zesty acidity, it does not want for fruity stuffing, and it shows the kind of balance to suggest that it will age with great grace. Good Value!
According to Antonio Galloni - The Syrah-based 2011 Renegade hits the palate with dark cherries, flowers, mint, herbs and licorice. Rich and explosive in style, the 2011 boasts gorgeous depth and more than enough intensity to fill out its broad-shouldered frame. This is an absolutely delicious wine for the money. The 2011 is 62% Syrah, 28% Petit Verdot and 10% Malbec.
According to International Wine Cellar - Vivid purple. Oak-spiced dark berry scents are complicated by notes of licorice, coconut and black pepper. Spicy, palate-coating cassis and bitter cherry flavors become sweeter with air and show a pretty strong oak influence. Finishes smoky and long, with lingering vanilla and mocha notes. My score will go up if the oak (33% of it new) comes into harmony with the fruit here.
According to Wine Advocate - A blend of 62% Syrah, 28% Petit Verdot and 10% Malbec, the 2011 Renegade Margarita Vineyard possesses a pretty, perfumed bouquet of crushed flowers, peach pit, underbrush and incense to go with a core of sweet red and black fruits. This medium to full-bodied blend has loads of character, solid texture and should drink nicely for 3-5 years. Drink now-2018.
According to Wine Spectator - A zesty red, with smoky cracked pepper and blueberry aromas, offering flavors of dried cherry, herb and cedar. Syrah, Petit Verdot and Malbec. Drink now through 2019.
According to Wine Enthusiast - You’ll find a silky elegance in this robust blend of Syrah, Petit Verdot and Malbec. The palate is robust with flavors of raspberry, cola, persimmon and baking spice, along with big, brawny tannins. 13.9% ABV. Rated 90+
