Vinous 90 JS 90 Pts - According to Wine Advocate - "The 2011 Villa Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva is a new wine from recently acquired vineyards in San Sano, which lies in the province of Siena, where Sangiovese tends to be dark and powerful in nature. Dark red cherry, plum, smoke and leather take shape as this Riserva opens up in the glass. A dollop of Merlot adds palate weight and plenty of appeal. The Riserva is a bit less forward and fruit-driven than the straight Villa Antinori, but has gorgeous savory and mineral notes."
According to James Suckling - "A wine with a pretty backbone of acidity and fruit, fresh acidity and a long, flavorful finish. Lovely austerity to it. Always excellent quality. Drink now."
According to Wine Spectator - "Black cherry, cedar, tobacco and incense aromas and flavors are matched to a finely grained structure in this red. The finish is austere, so temper with food. A cocoa accent lingers. Drink now through 2020."
According to Wine Advocate - "The 2011 Chianti Classico Riserva Villa Antinori is simple wine with a great sense of fresh cherry fruit at its core. The bouquet is embellished with touches of crushed mineral and soft baking spice that add a moderate degree of complexity. What this wine will ultimately be remembered for is as a food-friendly option to pair with oven-roasted pasta, lasagna or other homemade Italian meals for family and friends. 90% Sangiovese, 10% Cabernet and Merlot." 14% ABV.
