Vinous (92-94) WS 93 WA (90-92) Pts - According to Antonio Galloni - The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain Estate is a model of pure sensuality. Bright red berries, rose petals, mint, anise and crushed rocks give the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Howell Mountain much of its brightness and lift. Winemaker Danielle Cyrot has done a wonderful job with her inaugural vintage at Cade. The 2012 Estate is layered, sumptuous and beautiful. Silky tannins frame a polished finish laced with rose petals and spices. The 2012 is 93% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Merlot.
According to Wine Spectator - A seductive style, rich and layered, with a tempting overlay of intense, creamy mocha-laced red and dark berry flavors that are deep and persistent. A good bet to gain and age. Drink now through 2028.
According to Stephen Tanzer - Bright ruby-red. Very primary, inky aromas of cassis, licorice pastille and menthol. Supple and creamy if a bit youthfully stunted, with slowly emerging flavors of black cherry, licorice and dark chocolate. Finishes with building tannins and a note of blackberry liqueur. Will this wine develop more grip during its final months in barrel? Note that this wine was previously bottled simply as Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain; as of vintage '12, the old Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Howell Mountain will become Reserve.
According to James Suckling - A chewy wine with lots of cool tannins and mineral character. Full and intense. Plenty of fruit and spice. Drink now.
