WA 91 JS 90 Pts - According to Wine Advocate - "The 2009 Brunello di Montalcino is one of those wines that seemingly benefitted from the warm vintage. The style is rich and opulent and there is enough layered oak spice and tannin to support the softer nature of the fruit. Ripe cherry, blackberry and dark plum abound. My only note of hesitation is sparked by the mouthfeel that is slightly thinner and shorter than past vintages. This Brunello is aged in a combination of botte grande and smaller oak barrel. The wine is fleshed out, approachable and almost ready to drink now. Some 160,000 bottles were produced. Drink: 2015-2020."
According to James Suckling - "This is a little lean but shows pretty berry, prune and cocoa character. Full body, firm tannins and a fresh finish. Needs a year or two to soften."
According to Wine Enthusiast - "Red berry, spice and floral notes of rose and blue flower lead the nose on this wine. The palate delivers ripe red cherry and raspberry accented with thyme, sage and mint with hints of espresso and toast. Well balanced, it conveys just enough freshness and firm but fleeting tannins."
According to Wine Spectator - "There's an attractive, earthy side to this savory red, whose tobacco and leafy notes surround a core of cherry. Lean and balanced, with a moderate finish. Best from 2016 through 2025."
According to International Wine Cellar - "Medium red. Musky coffee, strawberry and tobacco on the nose. Juicy, bright and fresh, with moderately dense red cherry and red raspberry flavors. Finishes supple and a little short."
Tasting Notes - "Ruby red, tending to garnet red with ageing. Penetrating, very full and varied, reminiscent of wild berries. Dry, warm, full-bodied, harmonious, delicate and austere at the same time, persistent." 13.5% ABV.
