AG 92 WA 91 IWC 91 Pts - According to Antonio Galloni - "Blue/blackish fruit, violets, lavender, spices and white flowers all meld together in the 2012 Pinot Noir Garys' Vineyard. Here the flavors are rich, dark and enveloping to the core, with terrific depth and tons of pure intensity."
According to Robert Parker - "Two outstanding efforts from the Santa Lucia Highlands include the 2012 Pinot Noir Garys’ Vineyard. Aromas of toasty oak intermixed with lavish blackcurrant and black cherry fruit, and hints of spring flowers, earth and spice emerge from this lush, opulently textured, medium to full-bodied, sexy Pinot. Enjoy it over the next 4-5 years."
According to Stephen Tanzer - (15.2% alcohol): "Full red-ruby. Very ripe, soil-driven aromas of strawberry liqueur, licorice and underbrush (Capiaux mentioned "rum raisin"). Large-scaled, fat and voluminous, with terrific sucrosite but also adequate balancing acidity to the blackberry pie flavor. Silky-smooth, low-tannin pinot with immediate appeal, but doesn't possess quite the definition or lift of the Widdoes. Finishes with slightly warm earth and spice notes."
Tasting Notes - "Dark ruby red in color with a dense core, the 2012 Garys’ is full of blackberry, plum sauce, raspberry and Asian spice aromas. Ripe and broad on the palate with waxy flavors of candied blue fruit, vanilla and a touch of juniper berry. Balanced tannins that come across smooth and sweet this wine will age well for many years." 15.2% ABV.
