  • La Fiorita Brunello di Montalcino 2010
100% Sangiovese Grosso clone from warm vineyards in the southern part of the Brunello di Montalcino appellation. The wine is hand harvested from vines ranging in age from 12 to 35 years old. Once inside the winery it is fermented for 15 days on the skins before being transferred to new French oak barrels where it ages for its first year. The wine spends its second year in larger oak casks before being transferred to stainless steel tank and finally bottle. 95 pts Wine Spectator "Offers terrific aromas of strawberry, currant and medicinal herbs, revealing hints of anise, tobacco and earth, all backed by a firm, vibrant structure. Stays focused and long, with a succulent finish." 92 pts Wine Enthusiast "Aromas of wild berry, savory herb, menthol and toast lead the nose. The vibrant palate delivers crunchy red cherry, eucalyptus, sage and cooking spice alongside youthfully assertive tannins and brisk acidity. It closes on a licorice note."

  • Attilio Ghisolfi Barolo Bussia 2010
93 Pts wine spectator 93 Pts wine enthusiast 92 Pts James Suckling A big, noble, long-ageing wine, Barolo is the pride and glory of old Piedmont, and the absolute master of the dining table. It wins over the palate with its strength, balance and body, holding it lengthily under its spell. Made from Nebbiolo grapes grown on more recently-planted vineyards in the Visette area of the village of Monforte d’Alba. Tasting Notes: The color is a ruby red, almost garnet, with a flowery, rich and expansive nose. The taste is well-balanced, mature, deep and nicely tannic, with a long finish. This wine is excellent for drinking from an early age.

  • Gaja 2010 Pieve Santa Restituta Rennina Brunello di Montalcino DOCG
RP 97 Pts. - V 95 Pts. Vinous / Antonio Galloni - "The 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Rennina is distinctly powerful and savory in this vintage. Iron, smoke and tobacco open up in a wine that is constantly changing in the glass. Initially quite reticent, the 2010 blossoms with air as the aromatics release and the tannins start to soften. There is a lot going on in this striking, highly nuanced Brunello from the Gaja family. If opened young, the 2010 needs a lot of air. I would be tempted to cellar the 2010 for at least a few years given the personality of the vintage and the wine's track record for evolution in bottle."

Tasting Notes: Deep cherry colour with shades of shiny red. To the nose, aromas of berries and liquorice balanced by hints of clove, rosemary, thyme and tobacco leaves coming from the oak cask ageing. To the palate, it shows its elegance thanks to a gentle tanin providing roundness and freshness. The wine tastes for long in the palate, with an interestingly complex aftertaste. Game and red meats are ideal pairings for this wine. Grape Variety: Tempranillo: 85% Graciano: 10% Mazuelo: 5%

  • Chateau Belgrave, Haut-Medoc 2010 5ème Cru Classé
Robert Parker 93 Pts. -Château Belgrave, classed as a 5ème Cru Classé in the 1855 Classification, was a run-down property producing fairly mediocre wines until 1980. Salvation came in the form of the Bordeaux firm, Dourthe, which bought Belgrave and immediately renovated the cuverie and cellars, as well as extensively replanting the vineyards. By the mid 80s, cult oenologist Michel Rolland was consulting and the subsequent rise in quality has been meteoric. Belgrave is situated in Saint-Laurent, which is just outside the St-Julien appellation, and there are 55 hectares of vineyards, planted with Cabernet-Sauvignon (40%), Merlot (35%), Cabernet Franc (20%) and Petit Verdot (5%). The wine is matured in oak barriques, 50% new, for between 15 and 18 months. Belgrave produces sleek, stylish and harmonious clarets that, while difficult to resist when young, amply reward cellaring for up to 10 years.
