Facing the Pyrenee Mountain range in the south west of France comes a great full body super aromatic wine called Madiran. Made with Tannat, Cab Franc, and Cab, this delicious wine. It is not well known in the US yet, and this may change once health conscious consumers learn that a much higher concentration of polyphenols, procyanidins, flavenoids and resveratrol are present in the Tannat grape than in any other varietal.
Why? Simply because the Tannat grape contains 5 to 6 seeds while all other varietals contain 2 to 3! All the good antioxidants made famous by the various studies regarding wine and health are found in the grape seeds. We are delighted to offer this wine, primarily because of its aromatic profile. Following an hour in a decanter, its bouquet will offer notes of grilled meat, coffee and wood. On the palate aromas of fig and tobacco supported by strong acid and powerful tannins will surprise you in a manner reminiscent to a classic Barbera.
This is certainly a food wine that will complement any game meat or lamb. So, offering great taste, tons of antioxidants and a bargain price! is Madiran the perfect wine?
