IWC 92 WS 91 W&S 90 Pts - According to Stephen Tanzer - "Saturated medium ruby. Brooding aromas of cassis, mocha, mint, licorice and minerals. Suave on entry, then seamless in the mid-palate, with sexy flavors of blackberry, licorice and menthol lifted by a violet quality and complemented by oak. Shows a lighter touch than the Cold Creek cabernet and finishes plush and long, with very suave tannins. This should age well but is already quite sexy."
According to Wine Spectator - "Smooth and polished, with a pleasant cocoa nib note adding interest to the dark berry, currant and gentle herb flavors. Shows depth and distinction. Best from 2013 through 2018."
According to Wine & Spirits - "Scents of India ink and evergreen relax with air into scents of cedar, carob and black cherry. On the palate it remains dense and tightly woven, with a grainy texture that seems textbook Horse Heaven Hills. It needs time, but it is a great buy to set against a steak."
According to Wine Advocate - "For thoughts on Chateau Ste Michelle’s uniqueness and recent evolution, consult my extensive April, 2013 text designed to introduce recent tasting notes. When compared with its 2008 predecessor, the Ste Michelle 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Canoe Ridge Estate wants a bit for vivacity and complexity, but it’s texturally plush and mouth-coating as well as seamlessly ripe, candied cherry joining forces with creme de cassis – all no doubt significantly reflecting its warm growing season. The finish is soothingly-sustained. Plan to enjoy this over the next 3-4 years."
According to Wine Enthusiast - "Quite young, this wine is still showing some reduced flavors, so give it plenty of breathing time. Clean and varietal black fruit and generous amounts of chocolaty oak provide the foundation. More time is needed to pull all the components together into a seamless whole."
Tasting Notes - "The Canoe Ridge Estate Cab is a beautifully balanced wine that offers a classic, fresh expression of Horse Heaven Hills fruit. The wine shows varietal black olive notes with ripe cherry flavors and soft tannins. It is my go to wine that can handle any food." 15% ABV.
