JS 92 WA 91 Pts, 90pts, The Tasting Panel - According to James Suckling - A malbec with a firmness and brightness that focuses the fruit, plus light flower petal character. Full body, firm tannins. This is from vineyards in Altamira and Vista Flores. Drink now.
According to Wine Advocate - The 2013 Malbec Q is sourced from La Consulta (Altamira) and Vista Flores. This wine has changed since 2010; now only 30% to 50% of the wine is oaked and the rest is matured in cement vats. The oak is imperceptible, and there are plenty of aromas of violets and blueberries with some aromatic herbs, all fruit. What Sebastian Zuccardi looks for is to have some herbal/countryside aromas and a lively palate with good acidity, which is what you find here. This is really tasty, with a fine, chalky tannin (from Altamira?) and just plain great.
According to Wine Spectator - Open-textured, with white pepper notes to the dried berry and cherry flavors. Focused acidity drives the supple, savory finish. Drink now through 2018.
According to Stephen Tanzer - Bright saturated ruby. Slightly roasted aromas of dark berries, black plum, dark chocolate, mocha and sexy oak. Round, fat and sweet, with a hint of alcoholic warmth giving the blackberry, plum and chocolatey oak flavors a slightly aggressive quality. Finishes firm, with slightly dry tannins and lingering notes of licorice and menthol.
According to The Tasting Panel - Dark, rich color; fresh, juicy blackberry predominates; nice balance and length. 14% ABV.
