WE 93 W&S 92 WA 90+ Pts - According to Wine & Spirits - From a 1997 planting of Pommard and Wadenswil clones, this feels springy and red-fruited when first opened and it continues to hold its energy and spice as it takes on air. The oak is there, but not overbearing; the fruit is generous but also fresh. It's an integrated, seamless pinot noir that will benefit from a few years in the cellar.
According to Wine Advocate - More masculine and firm (which is the hallmark of this vineyards), the 2011 Pinot Noir Bien Nacido Vineyard offers up mineral-drenched aromas of black cherries, ground pepper, flower garden and gun flint on the nose. Medium-bodied and structured on the palate, with notable tannic grip, it should be given another 1-2 years in the cellar and drunk over the following decade. Drink 2015-2021.
According to Wine Spectator - Medium-weight and pleasing, yet short on focus, with a core of ripe plum, fresh earth and dried berry notes. Drink now through 2019.
According to Wine Enthusiast - A good Pinot, bracing in acidity, with rich black raspberry jam, cola and sandalwood flavors. It’s light and silky in the mouth, with brown sugar through the finish. Ready to drink now.
Tasting Notes - Aromas of black cherry, blackberry, plum, rose petal, graham cracker, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla . Fruit flavors of black cherry, blackberry and black currant cascade on the palate, while hints of Kirsch liqueur, milk chocolate, smoke and mineral integrate with subtle oak to add to the complexity. This versatile wine can be paired with grilled salmon, pork roast or beef tenderloin. 100% Pinot Noir. 14.1% ABV. Rated 90+
