Product Description

Robert Parker 91 Pts. - The Wine Advocate - "From proprietor Andy Hoxsey, the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate displays classic pure cassis and an opaque purple color, in a reserved but exuberant, concentrated, full-bodied style with low acidity and ripe, well-integrated, lush tannins. Drink it over the next 12-15 years. "

Tasting Notes - "Intense, overt aromas of blackberry and raspberry; hints of tobacco and herbs tempting you towards your first sip. The wine is classic Cabernet on the palate with enticing flavors of mature plum, black cherry, and dark chocolate; lengthened by the integrated background of cedar, nutmeg and vanilla. One of the finest expressions of the Rock Cairn Vineyard, ever!" 95% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Petite Verdot, 1% Malbec. 14.2% ABV.

Vineyards: The fruit for the 2013 Ghost Block Cabernet Sauvignon comes from our family-owned Rock Cairn vineyard. The 30-year-old vineyard in Oakville, Napa Valley is 100% Certified Organic. The site is comprised of deep, gravelly loam with a western exposure, and the vines produce very concentrated fruit late in the season.>

Winemaker Notes: 2013 was a wonderful vintage, a winemaker’s vintage. The season was very consistent, timely, and manageable. The grapes were small berries allowing for maximum skin contact, making our 2013 Cabernet dark and luscious with smooth, round tannins.

    Cassis and complexity

Dark cherry, cassis, vanilla with a good amount of complexity. Hints of crushed rock and hints of white flowers on the finish. Lots of tannins which need time to soften.
