Our supplier has just hit a virtual Golconda with the library release of the Carnival of Love 2011 Shiraz from Mollydooker. By all accounts, Australian wine has suffered in popularity over the last decade or so, but Mollydooker has weathered the storm. Carnival of Love has graced Wine Spectator's Top 100 six times, and has hit the Top 10 three times in a handful of vintages; it's no wonder this wine sells out before the list is even published.

The wine is sourced from Gateway Vineyard in the McLaren Vale. Owners Sparky and Sarah Marquis focus on a quality they call "fruit weight", the percentage of your palate (from the tip of your tongue going all the way back) that's covered by the velvety sensation of fruit, before you experience any of the structural components of the wine. The 2011 Carnival of Love scored a whopping 92%. The plush texture and expressive fruit character make this wine a real crowd-pleaser.

This is a great opportunity to acquire into one of the Australia's most collectible wines at a killer price, we highly recommend that you stock up before it's gone.

WS 94 WA 93+ - "The 2011 COL so clearly shows the essence of Mollydooker. It has elegance; a complete, intense, seamless flavour spectrum; a sumptuous mouthfeel and perfect balance."
WS 93 WA 92+ - Initially, the Enchanted Path radiates varietal Cabernet notes of fresh plum, clove and hints of choc mint. Only moments later the Shiraz chimes in voicing big red berry fruits, aniseed spice with layers of milk chocolate. Supple tannins and creamy mouth-feel allow the concentrated flavours to be enjoyed on the palate while maintaining beautiful balance and finesse.
"The wine shows luscious black berries, dark chocolate and hints of mint. It has a wonderful balance and rich creaminess across the palate and leaves you with a spice and coffee finish."
WS 90 - The parcels of wine in the The Maitre D' come from the McLaren Vale grapes from the red soils our of Coppermine Road Block. We blended them with exquisite grapes from Darren and Belinda Joppich's block in Langhorne Creek.
WS 92 - Definitely a personal favourite, every year the Blue Eyed Boy is a stand out. This Shiraz is bursting with generous amounts of fresh plum and blueberry, accompanied by spice and licorice all sorts. Supple texture and a creamy finish features layers of biscuit cream and espresso coffee. A well weighted wine with a truly elegant finish.
