Wine Advocate Review
La Colombina delivers a beautifully elegant and streamlined wine that defies the warm growing season. The 2011 Brunello di Montalcino avoids the extreme exuberance and exaggerated quality of its peers. Instead, this wine offers a more subdued and introspective approach with pretty aromatic detailing of wild berry and balsam herb. This is a well managed and nicely balanced Brunello. It should easily withstand a ten-year drinking window. Drink 2017-2027.
VinoUS Media Review
The 2011 Brunello di Montalcino is a representative wine for the year. Layers of macerated red cherry, plum, cedar, tobacco and anise fill out the wine's ample, broad-shouldered frame nicely. La Colombina has done a terrific job finding just enough freshness to balance the wine's ripe personality. A touch of warming alcohol rounds out the finish, clearly marking the personality of the vintage but without being excessively imposing. (Antonio Galloni)
Decanter Magazine Review
Strong savory notes add to the red cherry, underbrush, and aniseed flavors. Tannins are round and supported by a juicy mid-palate. An excellent, firmly structured wine that just needs time. Drink 2016-2030.
Wine Spectator Review
Sweet cherry, plum, spice and mineral flavors converge in this supple red. Offers fine length, with malleable tannins. Balanced enough to enjoy now, but should improve with short-term aging. Best from 2017 through 2028.
Wine Tasting Notes
Fine and complex, this Brunello has typical scent of cherries, forest floor, earth and spices. Smooth with elegant tannins, crisp acidity and a long, persistent finish and a beautiful, mineral character. Best to drink now to 2030.
The ratings and price persuaded me to give this wine a shot. I'm in, not only because of the high-class taste, but because of the nice rounded flavors and smooth mouthfeel. This DOCG has lots of character and I will very much be looking forward to the next time I get to have a glass.
I literally didn't believe the quality of this wine for the price. This is good stuff, but the value is what blew me away. Buy up - JC
This wine was recommended to me by a close friend. I trust her judgement so I ended up giving it a try. Such a delicious wine and goes great with any type of meat i'm having that night.
Such a good value. an excellent wine for any occasion.
A savory and juicy wine that reveals itself beautifully. A bottle worth any price, but especially this one.
