Product Description

90pts, According to Malt Advocate - "A blend of three different types of whiskey -- malt whiskey, grain whiskey, and a third component which is said to be a malt whiskey produced from crystal malt. Brewers and homebrewers know crystal malt well, a slightly caramelized version of malted barley. Its rich texture suggests a decent malt content for a blend. Layers of sweetness (honeyed vanilla, rummy molasses, toasted marshmallow) are balanced by toasted nuts, dried fruit, and dark chocolate. Very dynamic and with plenty of grit."

"Midleton Very Rare is the most exclusive whiskey ever produced in Ireland. Distilled three times by John Jameson and Son, the whiskey is carefully aged in individually chosen oak casks. Midleton Very Rare is only available in strictly limited quantities as just a small number of casks of the finest distillates are personally selected by the Master Distiller each year. It is reserved for the appreciation of only the most discerning judges of fine whiskeys. Each bottle is individually numbered and each label signed by the Master Distiller at the Midleton Distillery as a final guarantee of outstanding quality." 46% ABV.

Sometimes you deserve to treat yourself...

Relatives of mine recommended this to me after living in Ireland a few months and going on factory tours and tastings. Being a Jack Daniels guy this whiskey opened up my eyes and revealed the meaning of crafting a spirit. I would reccomend this to anyone. It is smooth as an eighteen year olds ass. I have run into those who turn their nose up at a blended whiskey. It is a good test to see if someone is a dumbass. Making up your mind on what to drink based on the label or bottle is stupid. I used Middleton as the benchmark in which to gauge other whiskies and help me figure out what I liked and did not... The 2005 was my favorite year still. This led me to spend a little money once in a while... most 'experiments' were good for the money and some were bad...but noone can say this is a bad or even average whiskey!
