Vinous 93+ JS 92 WA 91 WE 91 WS 90 Pts - According to Antonio Galloni - The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Hayne Vineyard offers a compelling interplay of intense, forward fruit and more floral/savory overtones that are woven throughout. Iron, smoke, red cherry, pomegranate and dried flowers open up in the glass, before the firm Hayne tannins kick in, a reminder that the wines from this great site develop beautifully with time in bottle.
According to James Suckling - Lots of plum and chocolate character on the nose and palate. Full body, soft tannins and a savory finish. Plenty of dried fruit such as strawberry and currants. Easy to please. Drink now.
According to Robert Parker - From one of the great sites for old-vine Zinfandel in Napa, the 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon Hayne Vineyard is located on the back streets of St. Helena. Lots of blackcurrant fruit, tart acids, and a medium to full-bodied mouthfeel are impressive in this young, vibrant, age-worthy Cabernet Sauvignon, that should easily stand the test of two decades of cellaring. The color is saturated ruby/purple, and the wine is still relatively tight. I suggest several years of bottle age for potential owners.
According to Wine Enthusiast - From a historic vineyard in the heart of the Napa Valley, this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon develops in the glass, evolving from muted aromas of earth and cinnamon spice to subtle cherry, cassis and oak. Balanced and lovely, the spice stays on the tongue throughout the long finish. It can easily be enjoyed now, but has the structure to age well through 2022.
According to Wine Spectator - An elegant, tapered style, with dusty berry, cedar, anise and dried herb flavors. A well-proportioned Napa Cabernet that ends with a pleasant hint of dusty soil and olive. Drink now through 2027.
Tasting Notes - The 2012 Hayne Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon has an enticing aroma of red and black fruits. Wild berry and cherry are pronounced on the palate, while a hint of earth and graphite adds interest. Char and spice from the French oak pairs beautifully with the supple fruit, while the velvety, yet firm, texture carries this wine into a lengthy finish. This wine is remarkably balanced and shows beautifully even in its youth. 14.3% ABV.
