JS 93 WA 93 Vinous 92 Pts - According to James Suckling - "A fruity red with soft tannins and juicy blackberry, hints of chocolate and vanilla character. Full and round, lots of fruit and a fresh finish. Still prefer 2011 but this is outstanding. Drink or hold."
According to Robert Parker - "The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon with the Paul Hobbs moniker is pretty serious wine that could easily win many a tasting. Dense purple in color, with notes of blackcurrants, blackberry, charcoal and incense, the wine is full-bodied, opulent and a big-time winner. This is a stunner that’s drinking well already and yet promises to age well for 15-20 years."
According to Antonio Galloni - "The 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon jumps from the glass with dark red plum, raspberry, spice and new leather. This succulent, mid-weight wine is an excellent choice for drinking now and over the next few years. The racy, exuberant finish and plump fruit are among the signatures of the year, and they are both very much present in this fine Cabernet."
Winemakers Notes - "This stately cabernet sauvignon derives great depth from the diverse terroirs of its pedigreed vineyards, including Beckstoffer Dr. Crane, Beckstoffer Las Piedras and Stagecoach. The wine is dark garnet in color with brooding aromas of blackberry and cassis. A juicy palate reveals complex layers of black fruits and baking spice with mineral traces of pencil lead and slate. Youthful acidity backed with chewy, brambly tannins creates a well-balanced 30 second finish." 14.7% ABV.
