- San Felice Poggio Rosso Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG 2010 Rated 94WE CELLAR SELECTION
Wine Enthusiast Review
Here's an outstanding Chianti Classico made from 80% Sangiovese, 10% Pugnitello and 10% Colorino that opens with earthy aromas of underbrush, leather, violet, dark spices and red berries. The structured palate delivers rich black cherry, black pepper, clove and balsamic herbs alongside bracing yet refined tannins. It still shows some youthful aggression, so give it time to soften and develop complexity. Drink 2015-2025.
VinoUS Media Review
The 2010 Chianti Classico Riserva Poggio Rosso has come together beautifully over the last year. Freshly cut flowers, red berries, tobacco and leather jump from the glass in a vibrant, finely-cut wine endowed with terrific energy and focus. There is a lot to like here. (Antonio Galloni)
Wine Advocate Review
The 2010 Chianti Classico Riserva Poggio Rosso stands out for the intensity and overall integrity of the bouquet. The wine feels like a super Tuscan (rather than a Chianti Classico Riserva) thanks to the layered richness and suppleness of the product. The thicker, redder soils of Castelnuovo Berardenga have played an important role in building up the quality of fruit that is so lavishly on display here. There's a tight tannic bite at the end that gives a slight crunch to the finish.
Wine Tasting Notes
Intense ruby red color. Highly pronounced bouquet with notes of plum, blackberry and raspberry. A wine of outstanding longevity and full flavor, with soft tannins and balanced acidity. Perfect with mushroom- and truffle-based dishes, game and mature pecorino cheeses.
